During the course of my work as a widely-read model engine historian, I’ve had occasion to require the services of a capable model engine restorer in order to return some interesting engines to fully operational condition so that they can be tested in support of the articles to be found on my website.

Dean Clarke of Cre8tionworx Engineering is a noteworthy provider of such services, to whom I have turned on many occasions. Engines which appear on my website following his attentions include the DALOR 4.5 cc diesel, the Ace 0.5 cc diesel, the B.M.P. 3.5 cc diesel (2 examples), the BOMA 1.48 cc diesel, the Banshee 10 cc racing engine, the Ten-Sixty-Six Hawk and Keil K6 sparkies, the E.D. glow-plug Racer 2.46 cc and Pep 0.8 cc diesel models, the ETA 5 diesel, the Jaskolka 1.5 cc diesel, the J.B Atomglow, the Micron 2.8 cc diesel and the Reeves Goblin 2.5 cc diesel. A number of these went to Dean sporting quite serious problems which prevented them from running, and all were returned to me with all of their problems remedied to an extremely high standard. I’d objectively say that the majority came back to me in better-than-new condition! Further examples from my collection await his attentions!

Having experienced the quality of Dean’s work through these repairs, I felt quite comfortable in purchasing a number of new examples of the engines manufactured by Cre8tionworx. These have included examples of the Mk. 2 Oliver Tiger, the WOHM 5 cc diesel, several examples of the CLAMO 2.5 cc model, both glow-plug and diesel renditions of the WOHM 3.5 cc model, an experimental 5 cc WOHM rear-exhaust diesel and both renditions of the Pepperell Team Race Special. I can honestly say that these engines have all proved to have been built to standards of quality, precision and finish which are not bettered by any other engines in my collection, regardless of source. The packaging too meets extremely high standards. All of these engines have performed extremely well when tested, and are built to a standard which will guarantee a long working life.

I’ve also bought a few engines from other makers which Dean was offering. In every case, the engines concerned have turned out to be in excellent condition, exactly as described. I would be very comfortable making future purchases from this source.

I recognize the undeniable fact that Dean’s work isn’t cheap. However, quality has its price, and from where I sit the results of Dean’s efforts are well worth the expenditure –
