AMCO 3.5cc Plain Bearing Restoration

The engine as received, missing the con-rod and piston.

Partly dismantled. Next step is to fully disassemble the engine and clean all the components.

Next step is to completely dismantle the engine and clean all the parts, then decide what we'll keep and what we'll replace.

Below are the parts cleaned and getting ready to reassemble......

Progress so far.

Crankcase and crankshaft cleaned and reassembled along with the refinished prop driver and washer with a new prop nut. Back plate cleaned up and refitted with a new gasket. New con-rod made and fitted.

Now we can move onto refinishing the cylinder liner, lapping to the correct geometry, make and fit a new piston and contra piston, gudgeon pin etc.

Here's the relapped cylinder liner along with the new piston and contra piston blanks ready for machining up and fitting to the cylinder.

Now we'll move onto machining them up to size and lapping to final fit.

Here's the engine reassembled complete with the cleaned N.V.A.....

Now we just need to manufacture a bit of tooling to allow us to restore the cylinder head and re anodize it.................

Now its off to the test bench we go to turn some fuel into noise and smoke, always the favorit part.........
