TAIPAN 1.5 SERIES 66 DIESEL RESTORATION.
The engine as we received it from Mr Dalziel.
Here 's the engine all dismantled and ready for assessing, boy what a worn out abused engine this is. Good thing we specialize in the returning to useful life of all worn out and abused toy engines then.
So quite a bit of work involved in salvaging this poor boy. Well as usual lets start with the basic crankcase and go from there.
Next up is clean up the back plate and N.V.A. and reassemble them.
Here's the back plate all sorted and ready to refit.
Next up is the replacement prop driver as the original part was well past it's use by date.
Now it's time to sort the crank bush and crankshaft.
Here's the engine test assembled to date to ensure that everyone plays nicely with no conflict.
OK now we'll look at the piston and rod assembly.
Well either my eye's are not working or else there's something very wrong with that rod????
A quick rummage around and we found a genuine replacement rod in the parts bin, whew.
Here's the progress to date...........
Okey dokey then, now we'll make the new spinner nut and clean and reassemble the N.V.A.
Here's the cylinder head progress......
BEFORE..
AFTER......
And all sorted with the compression screw refitted.
Now it's onto the cylinder and piston assembly.
