ENYA 15 D TBR
Here's the starting point for this project, one very sad looking, missing lots of parts basket case Enya 15D diesel.
Fist step is to tidy up the crankcase and then modify it too receive the new front bearing housing.
Here is the refinished crankcase, now sporting a front bearing housing to make it a twin ball raced engine.
Here is a second spare case that we found and so we will also be building a one off TBR drum valve rear induction engine.
The modifications to these crankcases required some fairly unique tooling which allowed us to remachine the case front shaft area in both these cases to facilitate the addition of the front bearing housing on the TBR engine and also the 15mm drum opening for the rear induction drum valve engine, which was important as we have made the drum run on a 15x24x5 bearing which locates nicely in what was the original crankshaft rear bearing position, the rear end of the drum is supported with a 10 x 15 x 4 ball race for rigid support and smooth running.
Now we'll start on the new front housing for the rear induction engine, then move onto making the new crankshafts for both engines.
Next up is the drum valave for the rear induction engine.
Drum made and fitted.
And the cover cap for the rear end.
Next up is the two crankshafts.
TBR crankshaft blank.
Rear drum valve engine crankshaft blank.
Next step, machine in the big end journal etc and then we can assemble the bottom end.
Here's the finished TBR crank.
And all assembled back into the engine.
And the drum valve version crankshaft also all finished.
And assembled into the engine.
Now it's onto the new con-rods.
Now it's time to assemble the bottom end in readiness for the cylinder assemblies to be done.
Here's the drum valve engine all done.
And here's the TBR version.
Now it's time to sort the cylinder assemblies.
In the meantime, here's the needle valve assemblies all done and fitted.
Now lets get on with those cylinder assemblies aye.
