ALLBON DART RESTORATION

Here's the engine as it was received from Callum.

As usual first step is dismantle the wee man and give him a nice bath to clean him up, then we'll assess the damage.

O.K. so the first step is to clean and check each part and the decide what needs to be done to restore this wee man to good running order.

Here we have the crankcase and crankshaft all cleaned up and ready for the other bits to start coming together.

O.K. so next on the list is the front end.............

Now we want the backplate and cylinder liner assembly to look like new again.......

Starting with the replacement piston and contra piston blanks.

Cylinder liner and new piston and contra all finished and final fitted to the restored cylinder liner. The original con rod and gudgeon pin were still good to go again so they were cleaned up and reused.

And refitted to the case assembly..........

Compression screw also cleaned up and reused.

New gaskets all round as well.

Here we have the new replica N.V.A. which we modelled off a boxed example in our own collection.

Now all that's left is to strip, polish and re anodise the cylinder head.

Before........

Here's the little chap all finished and ready for feeding, now where'd that fuel go.

Now off to the test stand we go.

Well that's another little jewel off the bench and ready to go home.
